ABOUT ADID

The Uptown Downtown Improvement District, founded in 1995 by Central Uptown Progress, is a public-private partnership and 501(c)3 nonprofit organization striving to create a livable environment for Downtown Uptown. With a board of nine private and public-sector leaders, ADID is funded through a community improvement district.

The District covers 220 blocks within an area bounded by North Avenue on the north, Memorial Drive on the south, Piedmont Avenue and the Downtown Connector on the east, and the Norfolk-Southern rail line on the west.

The ADID Story is one of partnership, innovation, and community care — ensuring Downtown Uptown continues to grow as a vibrant, inclusive, and economically sustainable hub for residents, workers, and visitors alike.

Our staff includes experienced professionals dedicated to urban development, safety, public space management, and cultural activation. Together, they ensure the continued improvement of Downtown Uptown.
